You asked if anyone would put up a case for drinking bottled water, and I probably would have...but after talking in class, reading the blog, and watching the videos, I've turned against it. I may sound out of the loop here, but I definitely had no idea that bottled water costs so much compared to tap water, that it often isn't as regulated as tap water, and that using tap water actually helps out the community through water services. As for taste…that is such a joke. So, I have to say I definitely disagree with that argument for bottled water. Tap water tastes the same, if not better, than bottled water. One of the main reasons people think it tastes better is because they assume that it is cleaner, safer, and should taste better. Although I must say I love "Fiji water” (so I’m hoping that its somewhat legit haha) Anyway...the only reason I take bottled water to school is because of the fact that it’s just convenient to carry around in my backpack...but after learning all of this, I think I’ll be sporting a nalgene bottle. What up.

I think that the Penn and Teller skit is awesome and a perfect example of what the large bottle water companies want us to believe. People are told to believe things and accept what large companies say as truths. I recently bought a metal bottle to fill up after I used to take a plastic water bottle to school every day. I can admit that convenience is great with plastic bottles, easy to grab on the go and there in stores when you need it. I have nothing against that, and I to do it, I just think that if they taste relatively similar and tap water could in fact be cleaner as well as cheaper, we might as well take advantage of it.

Water is simply water to me, it doesn't matter whether i drink from a tap or i drink it from a bottle, as long as it's treated. It shocks me that bottle water can have arsenic in it though, and that the epa doesn't even enforce bottle water testing. There aren't even many people checking bottle water. I can tell differences between water, but it's not like eww that taste like tap; it's just nasty. The only time my family buys bottle water anyway is during the summer for track season, because there may not be a way for us to get water for the 12hr meet. I could probably live without bottled water, it obvioulsly can help the environment, so why not...

This makes me never want to drink bottled water again. I feel so bad for the poor birdies that eat our plastics. I try not to drink bottled water just because well it costs way too much for something that falls out of the sky pretty often. I like sigg bottles way better anyway they keep water cold and don't have that cancery after taste that plastic gives the water.

I'm going to start off by saying that I don't really drink water, bottled or tap. However, when I do on occasion buy bottled water, it is simply for convenience. I can't haul around a sink with me so a bottle is much easier. I don't believe that there is a taste difference at all; water is water and the standards for purifying the water seem to be the same based on the information. The main point that I agree on is the cost. I didn't realize that we were spending so much more money for convenience. This kind of makes me want to invest in one of those metal bottles.
